Stage 12
Modena-Maranello
Leaving Modena we take the cycle path built on the old Modena – Vignola railway, leaving it when it crosses a well-marked nature trail that bends south, towards the mountains. Our route is located just east of the route of the eighteenth-century Via Vandelli, a road that the Duke of Modena had built to connect the capital of the Duchy, Modena, with the Tyrrhenian Sea, more precisely with Massa; today the old road is very busy, so we have adopted a quiet and safe alternative, which goes up a stream for a few kilometers, until it leaves it to reach the world-famous city of engines, Maranello, where Ferrari has several factories, and pilgrims can find hospitality and every kind of service.
